PURE NEPAL

I arrived in Nepal on May 5th 2015.  The Country was beginning to recover from the April 25th 7.8 magnitude earthquake when a 7.3 magnitude struck again on the 12th of May.  There were dozens and dozens of large aftershocks that continued to rock the country. (There were several aftershocks that happened while i was recording the timelapse footage so i apologize for any shaking in the footage. Some was even unable to be used because of how much my tripod shifted during recording)

I was able to be in the right place at the right time to assist with relief efforts.  I traveled around the country and was able to help with food distribution, demolition work, and rebuilding of homes and schools in remote villages.

While I was in the country I was also able to see much of the beautiful landscape.  I did a solo trek to Gokyo Ri and Everest Base camp. Documenting the effects of the earthquake and helping along the way.

I have posted many of my images on instagram (@mrmattbowen) and will soon be publishing a book of my images and donating the proceeds to those in need in nepal.  If you are interested in a copy please let me know.

One of the best things that can be done to help the country of Nepal get back on its feet is to visit Nepal.  Much of the country relies on tourism.  After the earthquakes tourism has decreased dramatically.  Visiting will help boost the economy and give sustained financial help which will be the means of many being able to rebuild.  It is safe to visit again and there is so much beauty to enjoy.  There are also many opportunities to help local families when you are in Nepal. If you plan to visit and want to know what you can do, message me or comment below and I can help give you information.

Thank you for watching the Video. Please Share it with those you associate with so they can enjoy the beauty Nepal still has to offer.
